History
The company was founded in 1927 by Alrik Hedlund. Sales then consisted of paper goods, bags, and packaging. Turnover during the first year was 192,000 kronor and the company had three employees. The business expanded rapidly and by 1935 the turnover had already exceeded one million kronor.
During the second world war, the stores belonging to the defense department stores were added as a customer. Axel Eliasson's art publishing house in Stockholm was acquired and branch offices were opened in Norrköping and Härnösand.
Trade with Asia began as early as the 1950s, initially with Japan. The company was transformed into a limited liability company, AB Alrik Hedlund. Over the next decades, imports from China in particular became the dominant force in the company's operations. Stig Hedlund is succeeding his father in 1962 as the CEO of the company. He was a pioneer in trade with China and built his business and impressive network of contacts in the country. Today, Hedlundgruppen has its own sourcing office and production units in Dongguan and Shanghai as well as an office in Hong Kong.

AB Alrik Hedlund continuously work towards sustainable operations. The company's sustainability work is evaluated on an ongoing basis and the operations are run with good social conditions and the environment in mind.
The company has experience in working with Asia since the 1950s. Many of the business contacts we have today go back generations. By working long-term, we have built up a strong network of contacts and many important partners.
Hedlundgruppen has been working with social responsibility in China for a very long time. The groupd has its own sourcing offices and manufacturing units in several parts of the country. In addition to our own factories, we mainly work directly with factories where there are established collaborations.
As our business volume is significant, we are a major business partner for several of our suppliers. We have an established quality department in China and meet QC according to market requirements. It is important to us that only approved and safe products are delivered to our customers and consumers. The products are manufactured in accordance with relevant regulations and EU directives. We update our requirements towards suppliers as changes occur in the EU regulations.
